“Spider-Man The Series?” Oh, I do believe…

When I heard that they were making a Blade: The Series based on the Blade from the movie universe and not necessarily the Blade character from the comic book universe I was a little skeptical but I had faith in the project solely because I heard Goyer was on board.

After I watched the first (and only) season I turned to a friend of mine and said “they could totally make a Spider-Man series and have it be this awesome.”

“I don’t know,” he said. “They made the series in the 7os and it was awful.”

“Think about it though,” I said. “TV shows have bigger production values and budgets now. If they got the costume from the movies and had some good CGI shots and got good actors for the roles they could really make something great.”

My friend, suffice it to say, was still skeptical. After a while I started to wonder if I was wrong as well but then I checked out this fan vid and I was in awe. I think this really proves what I was talking about.

Granted the effects shots were from Spider-Man 2 but…you get the point. Lucas Black as Eddie Brock? Avery (the man) Brooks as Ultimate Nick Fury? What’s not to love about that?

The guy who made this youtube video also made his own site for the series. Check it out. It’s pretty cool.

Here’s a pic from the site:

From left to right you’re looking at Mary-Jane, Peter, Eddie and Gwen. (Click on the photo to see it in better resolution.)

Now, there’s the kind of “head-to-desk” fan-fiction that just makes you want to gouge your eyes out and then there’s the stuff like this that truly makes you believe in the possibilities of something as awesome as a respectable and well-made Spider-Man television series to compliment the movies.

Seeing this dude’s site and promo actually have inspired me and given me some of my own ideas for a good piece of Spidey fan-fiction.

My only gripe with the whole thing is…where’s Harry? You can’t do Spider-Man without having Harry Osborn somewhere in the mix.

Still not convinced? Then check out this video by the same author:
